It is Hand Made And Has Been Set With Turquoise And Rough Cut Emeralds. The Box Has Been Tested With an X-Ray Metal Analyzer And is Confirmed as Silver. It Is Possible The Box Originates From a Central Asian Location, Possibly Bukhara, Uzbekistan or Afghanistan. Treasures Similar in Presentation To This Box Are Known To Have Existed Many Centuries Ago In Central Asia Which This Box May Be Based On. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver card case; part of our diverse Asian silverware collection. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) card case has a plain rectangular rounded form. The anterior surface of this rare Chinese silver card case is ornamented with chased oriental figures amidst bamboo and foliate designs, accented with a fenced area and simplified structures, all on a matte background. The ornamentation incorporates a vacant shield shaped cartouche. The posterior surface of this silver card case is embellished with an exceptional chased decorated segmented iconic Chinese dragon design amidst clouds, also all on a matte background. The rounded sides of this antique silver cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This Chinese card case is fitted with a push fit cover ornamented with a continuation of the aforementioned chased decoration. The hallmarks struck to the rim of this impressive antique case include. Maker’s mark: WA (undocumented maker’s name). This exceptional case has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (925, 925/1000). Antique Box Heavy Silver Metal Monkey Images Embossed Relief Centerpiece VTG

I took it to my jeweler who believes it has is made of nickel bronze alloy. It is a heavy and decorative item with a rolled relief embossed pattern and image that appears to be from China or the Middle East. The round knobs are threaded and screw in place. The lid fits nicely. The image of 2 monkeys on a limb are on each side. This is a special piece of art. A great display piece. A bit of history. Measurements are approximately 12″ x 11″ x 4.
