This is just a beautiful box it has not been engraved and is an excellent condition just some very light scratches on the bottom and in the cartouche area… But for its age it’s just fantastic. Antique Chinese Export silver Match Box Vesta case. By ZEE WO. Circa 1900’s

Chinese Export Cantonese silver match box vesta case. (which is released by compressing either side). In 1826, John Walker, a chemist in Stockton on Tees, discovered through lucky accident that a stick coated with chemicals burst into flame when scraped across his hearth at home. He went on to invent the first friction match. Stamped with a character mark. Maker’s mark for. No damage, bruises, holes or repairs. Some minor age related surface marks. Free from any later engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms. Clean and ready for use or display.

Chinese Enameled Metal Box Republic Period Circa 1930

An intricate, hands on, colorful hinged box to add to a collection or use to decorate the home. The heavy brass box has a silver (colored) patina and has been enameled in turquoise, cobalt and aubergine enamels in a scrolling peony design. You can see the golden color of the brass coming through the silver. The box has a simple pin hinge. The box rests flat on a surface with its bun feet. It has the mark MADE IN CHINA on the center of the base. 4 3/8″ wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep x 1 7/8 (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 12.0 oz (340 g). There is wear to both the silver-colored patina, as well as to some of the turquoise enamels. The hinge is bent, which prevents the lid from closing snugly. It also wiggles a little. There is wear and a few black spots inside the box. A great Chinese box to add to a collection or use to store little knick knacks. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) locking box has a reCtangular form. The surface of this antique box with lock is embellished with a chased decorated matte texture with a variety of embossed and chased decorated stemmed floral and foliate designs to the sides, including cherry blossom and larch arrangements. The upper surface of the cover is ornamented with an embossed and chased decorated scene depiCting a grassy terrain surrounding a tree with fan shaped leaves by the side of a winding stream, with a traditional Chinese crane style bird design stagnant to one side and in flight to the other. The cover is further embellished with a central reCtangular vacant cartouche. The decoration to the box is encompassed with a plain paralleling border; the border to the cover incorporates a simple incurved design to each corner. The underside of the box is plain and unembellished, apart from the Chinese charaCter hallmarks. The box retains the original fitted fully working lock and key. This Chinese box was crafted by Heng Li, a silversmith considered to have been one of the finest of the Tientsin makers; Tientsin had one of the oldest traditions of silver making in China. This antique box with lock is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp. The charaCter marks/hallmarks struck to the underside are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Chinese export silverware. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) card case has a plain rectangular rounded form. The anterior surface of this rare Chinese silver card case is ornamented with chased oriental figures amidst bamboo and foliate designs, accented with a fenced area and simplified structures, all on a matte background. The ornamentation incorporates a vacant shield shaped cartouche. The posterior surface of this silver card case is embellished with an exceptional chased decorated segmented iconic Chinese dragon design amidst clouds, also all on a matte background. The rounded sides of this antique silver cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This Chinese card case is fitted with a push fit cover ornamented with a continuation of the aforementioned chased decoration. The hallmarks struck to the rim of this impressive antique case include.
