Exceptional Antique Chinese Wang Hing Silver Box. Exquisitely, beautiful Antique Chinese Silver Snuff Box. This cylindrical shaped box is adorned with embossed blossom, which have exceptional detail & definition. The entire outside, and the top of the lid is smothered in blossoms. This enchanting design, sits proud on a hand hammered background. It’s lid is original & a perfect fit, both parts are internally gilded. 1890’s / 1930’s. WH for Wang Hing & Co. (Hong Kong Circa 1890 – 1930). 3.9 cm’s diameter. 3 cm’s high. No dents, holes or splits. There are movement marks to the base. Both the lid & bottom open & close with ease. A fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver cigarette box; an addition to our diverse silver box collection. This fine antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) cigarette box has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The surface of the body of the box is plain with an applied moulded border to the rim. The subtly domed hinged cover of the box is ornamented with contemporary engraved monograph initials in addition to a moulded border to the rim. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this impressive box include. Maker’s mark: WH (Wang Hing & Company). Silver quality/purity mark: 90 (900/1000). NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior to provide strength, due to a poor gauge of silver; a sign of quality when examples are unlined and of solid silver. This antique cigarette box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition. The engraved initials have wear in keeping with age.
