It is decorated with stipple-hammered finish and repousse five-claw dragon figures all around the body. On the top, there is a blank reserve for a monogram. Made by Wang Hing & Co. This fabulous box is 15 1/8″ long, 4 1/8″ wide, 3 3/8 tall and weighs 1,200.4 grams or 38.7 ozs Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. Antique GEORGIAN Sterling Silver Gilt Mother-of-Pearl SNUFF Chinese Export c1820

You are viewing a gorgeous Georgian period snuff box made in China and probably exported through Canton around 1820. Both top and bottom are single panels of mother-of-pearl; the top having a carving of an Asian buffalo with a tether. Similar boxes are rarely (if ever) hallmarked, but I guarantee the mounts are silver gilt. The oval snuff box measures about 3 1/8 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches deep by 1/2 of an inch thick. The box is in very good condition considering its age with no chips or cracks in the pearl. A minor repaired flake/blemish on the underside which I have photographed. Some minor gilding loss where the lid closes on the front, otherwise minor wear and tear only. Please refer to photos and feel free to ask questions – I usually get back to you quickly. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) canister / box has a hexafoil shaped form. The surface of this double skinned antique Chinese box is embellished with overlaid filigree mesh panels with plain solid silver borders to each incurve, in addition to the upper and lower rims. Each panel is ornamented with an applied oriental plum blossom branch accented with floral and bird designs, all accented with enamel details. The ornamentation to the body incorporates an array of alternating collet set agate and coral gemstones. This Chinese silver box retains the original push fit gem set, bulbous cover embellished with further filigree and enamel work identical to that of the body.
