Antique Chinese Export Silver Locking Box – Circa 1890. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) locking box has a rectangular form. The surface of this antique box with lock is embellished with a chased decorated matte texture with a variety of embossed and chased decorated stemmed floral and foliate designs to the sides, including cherry blossom and iris arrangements. The upper surface of the cover is ornamented with an embossed and chased decorated scene depicting a grassy terrain surrounding a tree with fan shaped leaves by the side of a winding stream, with a traditional Chinese crane style bird design stagnant to one side and in flight to the other. The cover is further embellished with a central rectangular vacant cartouche. The decoration to the box is encompassed with a plain paralleling border; the border to the cover incorporates a simple incurved design to each corner. The underside of the box is plain and unembellished, apart from the Chinese character hallmarks. The box retains the original fitted fully working lock and key. This antique box with lock is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp. The character marks/hallmarks struck to the underside are all very clear. Chinese Export Silver Tea Set with Original Box Zee Wo

A four piece Chinese export silver tea service set consists of a lidded teapot, a creamer with lid, an open sugar and a tongs. The set was beautifully decorated with high-relief dragons with tightly chased scales, slithering with open claws, one of the most auspicious motifs in Chinese traditional art. The knobs and handles were made in stylized bamboo shape, which is found on the tongs. The creamer and sugar were gilt inside. All pieces except the tongs were marked the same way underneath with “ZEEWO” and a square stamp that reads “Shan” which identifies the Silversmith. The set retains its original handled storage wood box with molded interior compartments covered in brocade. The box retains partially legible ink writings on the bottom identifying the content. Size: Teapot: 6″h x 9.75″w x 6.25″d; Creamer: 3″h x 5.25″w x 4″d; Sugar: 4″h x 6.25″w x 4.25d”; Tongs: 4.9″l x 1.5″w x 1.2″h. Antique Georgian Sterling Silver Gilt Mother-of-Pearl SNUFF Chinese Export c1820

You are viewing a gorgeous Georgian period snuff box made in China and probably exported through Canton around 1820. Both top and bottom are single panels of mother-of-pearl; the top having a carving of an Asian buffalo with a tether. Similar boxes are rarely (if ever) hallmarked, but I guarantee the mounts are silver gilt. The oval snuff box measures about 3 1/8 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches deep by 1/2 of an inch thick. The box is in very good condition considering its age with no chips or cracks in the pearl. A minor repaired flake/blemish on the underside which I have photographed. Some minor gilding loss where the lid closes on the front, otherwise minor wear and tear only. Please refer to photos and feel free to ask questions – I usually get back to you quickly.
