BLACK FRIDAY UNTIL MONDAY 2 /DECEMBER. HURRY UP BLACK FRIDAY. A silver metal box and cover of rectangular form with spreading feet, the surface with highly detailed cast decoration, a swirling dragon on the lid and profuse chrysanthemum to the sides, the interior lined in wood and the base with a two character mark within a diamond shape frame. Similar examples are catalogued as both Chinese and Japanese and the same mark appears on some. The style of decoration here, particularly the rendering of the flowers, suggests more Japanese work than Chinese and a dating to the early C20th when the cigarette box was a favourite form for export to the West. H 5cm, W 11cm, D 9cm. Good condition generally; the patina slightly uneven.

And is becoming increasingly hard to find and in turn increasing it’s value.

Amazing & UNIQUE Antique Chinese Export Silver Hipflask & Cup, Canton, c1900. This is quite simply a wonderful piece of silver – I have not been able to find another piece of Chinese export silver quite like this! This incredible Hipflask is very much made in the English style with oval body, screw top and slide-off cup. It is however embossed fully in Chinese character scenes but for a vacant shield for initials to the front. It feels wonderful to handle with really crisp and sharp details to the decoration. Apart from a minute bruise to the cover it is in wonderful condition. A truly rare and spectacular piece and a must for collectors of Chinese export silver. An extra large mid-century vintage Chinese porcelain shard box with an ornate silver frame and porcelain floral lid. This measures 10″L x 7″W x 3.5H which is a very large size for shard boxes. In good vintage condition with normal signs of wear, some superficial crazing on the porcelain as to be expected. Lid’s inside silver liner is a little warped as this was hand-made. No chips to the porcelain, normal patina to the silver frame.

Chinese Qing Dy c18th Century c1700’s Export Lacquer Tea Caddy Box Hand Carved Paktong Pewter Inserts with Hand Done Lotus Flower Design. Monogram on top lid of box(Can not make out). The 2 Paktong Pewter Containers pull completely out and have lids with knobs made of unknown material (bone). The bottom rim of box has slight wear conducive to age and use. This is a very old and period item and has slight wear due to age and use but is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! MEASURES: Box- 7 1/2″ x 6″ x 4″ – Inserts- 5″ x 3″ x 2 1/2″. PLEASE WAIT FOR INVOICE! This is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc, which resembles silver; it is slow to tarnish, wears well and was used occasionally in the eighteenth century for making candlesticks, fenders, grates and other articles. Paktong was imported into England from China, whence came also a pure zinc known as Tutenag. Writers often confused the two.
