Has slight dent to underneath rim, wear to gilt. Some holes and faults in the stones, silver around a stone slightly torn. Measuring approximately 11.5cm in height when assembled. If you have any questions just send me a message. The bangles don’t seem to come loose, may have been glued at time of manufacture or after. Can probably be made to come loose but I have not attempted to do so. The box bears the hallmark of Chong Woo of Hong-Kong which was one of the most important merchants of high quality Chinese silver during the second half of the 19th century. Chong Woo was not the merchants real name. His real name was Chiu Yu Tin who opened his first business in Hong-Kong in 1853. Antique Chinese Export Silver lancet case / Surgical Box for a medical practioner. Looks like a vesta or match safe, but made and fitted to hold a pair of lancets – used medically by doctors in the field 1-200 years ago as well as non-medical practioners of bleeding. Measures 2 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches 62 X 36mm. Rectangular case / box. Outside richly decorated with repousse Chinese figures performing various activities in a beautiful landscape. One side includes a pagoda with a number of patterns on it’s surface. Twisted and gnarled trees. The sides with matching decoration of raised foliage and flowers. Like many steel lancets of the time, they are encased in a’natural material’ – original to the piece. No hallmarks / identifying marks were found. No losses/damage of any sort were found. Antique Chinese silver and other natural materials, such as carved mother of pearl snuff box. 3 inches long; 2 1/4 inches wide. The top is a single piece of beautifully carved mother of pearl (abalone). It is set into a silver box with a hinged lid. The carving depicts a man riding a water buffalo, a popular theme in the late 18th – early 19th century. Almost as beautiful when open and see the contrast of the marbled bottom and pearly top. Very rare and exceptional piece with great workmanship and quality throughout. Not marked/signed in any way. Generally very good condition with a tiny rough patch in the natural material of the bottom, mentioned only for the sake of accuracy, but not impinging on the beauty of the piece.
