An interesting silver box with Chinese export silver marks with the style of the foliate engraving to the cover resembling Birmingham silver vinigrettes of the mid-19th century. It is later engraved Lidia to the central cartouche. The inside with gilt interior and heavy tarnish. Good condition with typical antique surface wear. Dimensions: 3.5 x 2.2 x 0.8cm. No other marks but it was tested and is sterling silver. The decoration on the outside of the box is somewhat work down. This box measures 2 1/8″ x 1 3/8″ x 3/8. It weighs 32.5 grams. Original 19th Century Chinese Canton Export Silver Snuff Box Signed. 19th Century Chinese Canton Export Silver Snuff Box Signed. Rectangular box with hinged lid and thumbpiece in front. The top of the lid is wonderful hand. Chased with flowers and foliage with. A rectangular reserve, intended for the owner’s initials, but still vacant. The inner lid is hallmarked with an 85, and other Chinese chop mark. Measures: 4 cm long by 2,8 cm wide. Please see pictures for more details, not polished, as found conditions. Antique Chinese Mother of Pearl and Silver Snuff Box. Circa 1800 Georgian, Qing Canton style from research of like boxes. Beautiful, detailed, exquisitely made rectangular snuff box with angled corners. Top piece of mother of pearl is monogrammed with what appears to be an S. Fair to good overall used, antique condition. Lid has a small surface hairline crack that may be seen in photo, but it does not go through the piece. It may be seen at the 7 o’clock position on the center circle going toward the upper right. Again, this is surface only and it does not permeate the lid. This is truly a gem. Edges are silver – tarnished patina. Carefully crafted with tiny pieces of metal silver? Measures 2 5/8″ x 1 5/8″ x 7/8. Some discolouration where I believe a cigarette may have been used as an ashtray one time.
