Fabulous Antique Chinese Silver Box with Yin Yang and basket motif. This exquisite small ornate antique Chinese Silver Box, likely a Snuff Box or Pill Box dating to c1900 to 1920. Beautifully made with a large flat carved Carnelian basket and. Yin and Yang symbol set inside the handle of the Basket, which is prong set into a silver bezel. The Yin and Yang material is either stone, crystal or glass. Under magnification they are translucent and semi translucent; each read as black and white. The Yin & Yang symbols are made in two separate sections (have some wear under magnification). Each with a subtle carved’eye’. The silver work on the top of the antique Chinese Snuff Box has beautiful intricate ornate engraved design. It compliments the Red-Orange of the Carnelian and Black & White Yin Yang motif. The corners of the Box are scalloped, the. Sides of the Box and reserve are plane. The front edge has a finger grip (fingernail inserted just above it opens the box). The hinge runs the back length and is in good working order. The Box closes well. Inside of the antique Yin Yang Box is very clean (note a slightly darker rectangle in the center likely where an older inventory tag was in its past; a tiny paper remnant in the right corner). The Box is marked on the inside rim: Made in China Silver. This beautifully made little Box measures 1 1/2″ x 1 1/4″. It’s in very good condition. Note the Yin Yang pieces has some wear under close inspection under magnification, Some areas have an aged. Patina and could be easily hand polished clean. On the underside is a pinpoint minor ding. Under magnification are minor expected surface scratches. The antique Chinese Yin Yang Basket Snuff Box Pill Box feels great in the hand; has some heft.
