A fantastic high quality antique Chinese Republic 1900s export silver gilt and enamel opium box and lid very finely enameled with colorful bats, shou symbols, scrolling leaves and flowers against a detailed silver filigree ground, the lid with a further shou and bats, the inside has also been gold gilded. The underside is marked’Silver’. The box measures about 1 7/8 inches (4.8cm) high, 1 3/4 inches (4.4cm) across and is about 3/4 inch (1.9cm) wide. The box is in great condition with no dings, dents, cracks or repairs. The enamel is in super condition with no losses. The box has general light wear. Please check all the pictures. Antique Chinese Republic Period Silver lined porcelain Master salt dips in box. Great old set, porcelain with no damage with removable solid silver (tested) liners. In the original box. One pin missing from catch on box. Salts are 2.25″ wide x 1.25″ tall. These are rare and collectible, a single one can be found with much effort, a boxed pair is very uncommon. A single one of these is shown as item number 2023 in the book “5,000 Open Salts” by H&J.

The heavy brass box has a silver (colored) patina and has been enameled in turquoise, cobalt and aubergine enamels in a scrolling peony design. You can see the golden color of the brass coming through the silver. The box has a simple pin hinge. The box rests flat on a surface with its bun feet. It has the mark MADE IN CHINA on the center of the base. 4 3/8″ wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep x 1 7/8 (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 12.0 oz (340 g). There is wear to both the silver-colored patina, as well as to some of the turquoise enamels. The hinge is bent, which prevents the lid from closing snugly. It also wiggles a little. There is wear and a few black spots inside the box. A great Chinese box to add to a collection or use to store little knick knacks. Republic Period Antique Chinese Silver Enamel Box. Beautiful period piece with vibrant blue enamel ground depicting flowering vines with butterfly and birds. Same vibrant blue enamel on sides with depictions of Chinese treasures. Base of box marked with hand engraved flower covering entire base plus period export mark. Enamel decoration on top of box in excellent condition. Enamel treasures on sides also in great shape with only minor wear. There is some enamel loss along edge of lid where the silver metal became bent. There also some warping to lip of base. Box lid snaps on with a tight seal, but is made difficult due to the warping. Mirror on interior of lid has significant wear and is loose. Box measures approx 3.25 wide and an inch tall. Very fine pair of antique Chinese gilt sterling silver filagree and enamel Foo Dog or Lion Guardian figures in their original fitted box. Marked (stamped) “SILVER” on one front foot of each figure. They are heavy for their size. Republic period or shortly after. Circa 1940 -1960’s. Finely crafted, beautifully sculpted, enameled, and finished. This pair is still in it’s original Chinese-made fitted wood box which features a silk lining, woven silk brocade exterior and bone closures. The original price tag is still in place on the bottom of the box. The silver enameled sculptures are in beautiful mint condition with no wear to the gold surface and therefore no tarnish to the silver under the gold.
