Antique Chinese Scholar’s Ink Stone Box Paktong or White Bronze with Landscape

A traditional Chinese scholar’s ink box. Measurement – top of cover – 3 and 7/8 by 3 inches. Height – Just under 1 and 1/2 inches. I believe the outside of the box to be Paktong or Chinese Silver, an alloy of silver and copper. This is sometimes referred to as White Bronze. Silver polish works well on it. The bottom of the box is copper and there is also a copper lining. It is quite heavy. The box is in very good condition with some wear from use. The copper bottom is not even on one corner, and there is a small dent in the copper lining on one side. The cover is lightly embossed with a landscape design. In some lighting it displays a yellowish tinge. This might suggest an original gold plating. 1930’s Chinese Paktong Octagon Shaped Sweetmeat Box with Silver (tested silver with silver test kit) P omegranate Finial Marked. It is 5.1 inches (13 cm) tall by 11 inches (28 cm) wide. It is 5.3 Lb. It has surface wears and scratches, stains, loose finial, cut marks at the edges, and tarnished metal (as seen in the photos). How we pack your item is at our discretion. Large Chinese Export Silver colour Paktong Antique Food Warmer Pot Dish Box

ANTIQUE LARGE CHINESE PAKTONG ENGRAVED FOOD BOX. A rare late 19th-century Chinese antique Paktong food warmer/box. Circular form with a high domed lid. The body decorated with four panels of different animal and nature scenes – a pair of Kylin, two panels with Fenghuang birds (phoenix), and one panel with vases amogst Chinese scrolls and an incense burner. All set against a finely engraved and flat chased matte background. It is free of any personal engravings or monograms. The dark patches on the first three images are reflection and not dents or marks. Good size and quite heavy. A beautiful example of genuine circa 100-120 year old antique Chinese Paktong. Diameter 18.5cm (7 1/4). Height 24cm (9 1/2) approx. CONDITION : Some dents and age related wear. The knop is tilted slightly but there is no movement and it is attached tightly to the lid. PEACE OF MIND GUARANTEE: We only sell genuine antiques. Hidden repairs of splits or cracks – Look for any swelling, variation in silver colour, and tiny bubbles/pitting.
