Tibetan Silver Gau Traveling Shrine Box with Fabric Case Early 20th C
An early 20th century fine crafted gau box with a repousse front panel for traveling with your prayers. The front of the box is made from a low-grade Tibetan silver and is decorated with a series of Buddhist designs with scrolling. The craftmanship is very fine. The front has a front window with a figure of buddha visible inside. The body has copper siding and rear panels. There is a prayer flag inside. The brown, blue and yellow quilted cloth traveling case helps protect the very soft copper sides. It has a button latch to keep it closed. 3 5/8″ (9.2 cm) tall x 3 1/4″ (8.3 cm) wide x 1 3/8 (3.4 cm) deep. Weighs 4.7 oz (135 g). The ornate front is in very good condition. The sides and bottom of the box are very thin and are dented. The cloth case has some loose threads and wear but otherwise is intact. A Tibetan work of art replete with Buddhist symbolism. May all your prayers come true! We just ask that you notify us before returning and obtain our authorization. This will ensure quick processing.
