CHINESE EXPORT SILVER BUTTER DISH SING FAT c1890. We are pleased to offer this Chinese export silver butter dish. This set was made for the Indian market. In raised circular form, with bamboo rim. Set atop well cast platform feet. Beautifully hand carved royal chrysanthemum sprays to the wide shelf border, leaf and floral to centre. However, here the work engraved into the surface, not repoussed. Atop tray with floral, and itself atop bracket feet. The top hat domed cover topped with oxen finial. Brilliant and chased detail to the animal, with long sweeping horns, curled tail and satin like coat as real. Chinese export silver oxen butter dish 6 1/4 inches and weighs 11 (standard) ounces. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The beautiful carved floral decoration and oxen retain their original crisp, vibrant detail. Stands firm on table. Few tiny bends to rim.
