An intricate, hands on, colorful hinged box to add to a collection or use to decorate the home. The heavy brass box has a silver (colored) patina and has been enameled in turquoise, cobalt and aubergine enamels in a scrolling peony design. You can see the golden color of the brass coming through the silver. The box has a simple pin hinge. The box rests flat on a surface with its bun feet. It has the mark MADE IN CHINA on the center of the base. 4 3/8″ wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep x 1 7/8 (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 12.0 oz (340 g). There is wear to both the silver-colored patina, as well as to some of the turquoise enamels. The hinge is bent, which prevents the lid from closing snugly. There is wear and staining inside the box.
