Chinese Export Silver Box by Wang Hing & Co – Antique Circa 1890. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Chinese export silver box; an addition to our oriental silver boxes collection. This magnificent antique Chinese export silver (CES) box has a rectangular form. The lower portion of this antique Chinese silver box is embellished with a broad band of pierced bamboo stalk and foliate decoration, below a chased undulating plum blossom decorated border. The box is fitted with a hinged cover further embellished with pierced and chased decoration identical to that of the body. The upper plateau of the cover is embellished with an impressive pierced decorated panel displaying segmented iconic Chinese dragon designs amidst clouds, incorporating a central vacant shield shaped cartouche. The underside of the box is plain and unembellished. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include. Maker’s mark: WH (Wang Hing & Co). Silver quality/purity mark: 90 (90 standard, 900/1000). This magnificent Chinese box is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. This antique Chinese silver box is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The chased and pierced decoration is all very sharp.
