SPECIALIZING IN FINE ANTIQUE VINTAGE JEWELRY & COLLECTIBLES. These prices come from GIA recognized. THE wholesale price guide for dealers. These values do not dictate what a piece is worth. This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. We have other Chinese pieces up for sale. This beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. Repoussé began as an ancient metal working technique, involving malleable silver first formed with a specially created three-dimensional mold and then further refined by hammering from the reverse side and adding detail to the front. The finished work was intricate, with grooves, indentation and channeling. It was then carefully polished as an eye-catching treasure. The chasing technique is a very difficult silversmith process when the artist uses a nail like tool and hammer to hand etch patterns within the metal work. This process was very difficult and only the best jewelers were trained in the process. There is enamel loss, please view the pictures. This box is in overall amazing condition for it’s age. The box is missing of it’s bead stands, it looks like it came off at one point. This should be an easy fix for any jeweler. This box along with the bracelets above came in a set came from a wealthy European Estate. This box features classic handmade Art Deco era craftsmanship throughout including old world Chinese Export workmanship. The silver and enamel work is some of the finest I’ve ever seen. Please when looking at the pictures use the zoom button and see the intricacy of this amazing bracelet (If you look closely you can see the hammer marks from being made by hand). We believe the box is silver plated and not solid. You can see on the bottom parts where copper appears to be showing from wear. The box is made in the repousse style and would have been hand hammered to get this intricate Village Scene motif throughout the box. On the outside of the box there are raised silver patterns with hand chased accents including along the details of the village scene. The artist would have hand painted the enamel on this gorgeous box. The colors include blue’s and purple hues throughout. This is truly a museum quality masterpiece that belongs in a museum collection somewhere. However, this once in a lifetime box and set is hitting the open market to be the crowning jewel in your collection. This box would have been intended for multi use including Cigarettes, Cigars, Jewelry Casket, Momentos, etc. The box measures 4.5″ wide by 3.25″ deep by just over 1 and 1/2 tall. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates. Unfortunately, most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don’t miss your chance to own this special piece of history! Main Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Accent Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Sizable by Your Local Jeweler. Due to the age of some of these pieces, some items will not be stamped. The National Stamping Act was not enacted until 1906, before 1906 jewelry was not legally required to have a karat mark. This is one way to date items prior to the Art Nouveau time period.
