CHINESE EXPORT SILVER BOX; ROYAL CHRYSANTHEMUM ON 1000 BUTTERFLY WINGS; SIGNED; EXCELLENT CONDITION. This is a museum worthy Chinese export silver scholars box. Signed for rare maker WF. They are not Chinese. Not solid silver, but plate or nickel silver. And certainly not export period. Many no older than your couch or TV. This export silver box in rectangular form. Center oval shield, never monogrammed. Beautifully raised royal chrysanthemum. Flowers carved in exceptional relief. Set against unique 1000 butterfly wing surface. This surface found on Meiji Satsuma wares, almost never on Chinese silver. Chinese export silver floral box just under 6 inches and 12 1/2 standard ounces. Lustreous silver patina throughout. Beautiful floral decoration retains its original crisp, hand chased detail. Original gold wash interior. Mild surface wear to interior base. We have over 8800 feed backs.
