Gorgeous Handmade Chinese Porcelain & Silver Shard Box
Own a piece of history with this Chinese porcelain & silver handmade shard box. Just after the revolution, broken pieces of antique porcelain were broken but brought back to life again in this mosaics. The Shard Box is not only a collection of antique porcelain, but also a collection of chinese history. The box is made of silver. The outside has a beautiful floral design that has been hammered into it. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches long by 1 inch tall. Silver has been polished. In very good vintage condition.
Original Antique Ming Period Blue White Porcelain Shard Sterling Silver Box
All of the Ming Period Shard Sterling Silver pieces in my collection were individually handpicked by my father who was a Malaysian resident and myself from Anna Antiques, a well respected Antique Dealer in Bangkok, Thailand in the early 1970’s. This particularly silver box is made from a repurposed piece of well over three hundred year old Chinese export porcelain that was most likely originally part of a cracked or damaged porcelain plate or bowl. Please review Condition Description. Fine Condition – please note couple of pin hole sized Kiln marks on the shard. There is also a small silver indentation on the left side of the front of the box. This item is a beautiful vintage pewter colored metal hinged box that was made in China. This hinged box has a wonderful design with scrolled filigree around an inset inlaid porcelain black and white tile on the lid. This box is super clean and was never used. It was part of a large private collection that was liquidated at an estate sale. This box has 4 integrated feet on the bottom.
