An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export silver jewellery box; an addition to our collection of boxes and cases. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) cigarette box has a plain rectangular form. The surface of the body is encompassed with an applied, large undulating oriental Chinese dragon design, all in high relief. This antique silver box is fitted with a silver and cedar wood lined hinged cover. The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with a further large coiling dragon design accented with impressive emanating whiskers, incorporating a circular vacant cartouche to the centre. The surface of the box and cover has a textured finish, with plain borders to each side. The body of this fine Chinese silver box retains the original cedar wood lining; by virtue of its size this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions. The box features a solid silver base which is plain and unembellished, apart from the feature hallmarks; a solid silver base is a sign of quality. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include. Silver quality/purity mark: 85 (85 standard, 850/1000). Such fine examples with three-dimensional whiskers and sharp applied decoration are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. This antique Chinese box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The original cedar wood lining to the interior has some staining in keeping with age and use. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the box are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver box; an addition to our collection of boxes and cases. This fine antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) box has a cylindrical form. The body of this round Chinese silver box is embellished with impressive embossed decorated panels depicting four variations of floral designs, each incorporating perched birds; each panel features a matte decorated background. The surface of the body is further embellished with an interlacing pattern. This antique Chinese silver box is fitted with the original push fit cover ornamented with a continuation of the body’s design to the sides. The upper portion of the cover is ornamented with an impressive panel reflecting the same style as those to the body, and incorporating a plain circular vacant cartouche to the centre. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include. Maker’s mark: SC (Sincere & Co).
