The exterior as well as the cover is intricately decorated with enameled scenes of animals in landscapes with a bat and shou characters accenting the cover. There are designs of dragons, figures in landscapes, growing bamboo, and varying blossoming plants including lotus and prunus. The box comes with the original fitted cover with the interior of both sections being finished with a gilt wash. The box stands 3 inches tall, measures 3.75 inches across, and weighs 205 grams.
