Fine & Rare 17th/18thC Chinese Export (European Market) Silver Tea Caddy, c1700
Fine & Rare 17th/18th Century Chinese Export (For European Market) Silver Chinoiserie Tea Caddy, c1700. A very rare Chinese silver tea caddy made of die-stamped silver most probably made for the Dutch or European market. It is stamped only with a single indecipherable character mark to the underside and dates to around 1700. It is of cuboid form, embossed and chased with figures in Chinese garden landscapes, above fluted acanthus banding. The domed lid is similarly fluted. Apart from one small split and a bruised base it is in remarkable condition given the age and delicacy. 2.37 troy oz. You will not be disappointed with this very rare object.
