A pair of exceptional antique Tsampa boxes and covers. The burlwood most probably Rhododendron with repousse silver mounts decorated with confronting fiery dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl and Buddhist precious objects; set with real coral and turquoise cabochons. The interiors have painted two character chinese marks. Chinese craftsmanship of the highest quality for the Mongolian or Tibetan market. Please scroll down for further details. A few of the tiny silver pins which hold the silver to the burlwood are missing. The burlwood shows some natural faults on the insides of the boxes. Size – diameter 12.7 cm / 5ins.
