RARE 71g 19TH CENTURY WANG HING CHINESE EXPORT SOLID SILVER SNUFF BOX, c1880
Description – Exquisite 19th century Chinese export solid silver. Snuff box of rectangular form with a hinged lid, thumb piece and a vacant cartouche. Lid embellished with a chased rural scene with people going about their work among trees and buildings in relief, the body side has chased leaf decoration and the base with a beautiful engraved leaf, floral and bird pattern. The is made by the renowned Wang Hing. Chinese hallmarks with “WH” for the maker Wang Hing, “90” for 900/1000 silver fineness and a Chinese character mark. Condition – Very good condition, no nasty dents, dings splits holes or repairs, hinge is strong’ closing the lid shut securely and the decoration is crisp and clear with minimal wear. There is a minor bruise to the cartouche and the interior silver-gilt has worn. Images are part of both the description and condition report. Dimensions & Weight – 7.3cm long x 4.8cm wide.
