Presented is a fabulous quality, Chinese export sterling silver jewelry or tobacco box made during the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The lid is hand chased with gorgeous chrysanthemum or lotus flowers and a butterfly over a hammered finish. The front of the box has an ornate cartouche with a monogram of the initials BDF. This is a finely hand crafted piece. The box closes securely with no gaps. The underside is marked KMS for the maker and stlg for sterling silver purity. This piece is in excellent overall condition. Originally the box almost certainly had a wooden or cloth lining, which is no longer present. Although it make little to no difference. Dimensions: 3 x 3 7/8 x 1 3/8 inches.
