Impressive & Rare, Indo-Chinese sterling silver chest form hinged ceremonial lock tea caddy with three separate caddies inside, the chest decorated with hand etched interlacing leaf & floral motifs, with continues running threat line design along each raised leather imitation strap, the front ornamented with two belt buckles & secure hooks, each strap & dome form handle crafted with visible flat knobs. When open, the interior reveal three additional matching smaller chest form boxes for herbs or sugar. The caddy has a working lock with the brass key. The box stand upon four low round knob for feet. Overall very good condition, some minor scratches, pin-pointed spots along the edges, tarnishing, lock work properly but, turning the key must be gentle since silver is a soft metal. Front panel show shallow dent, the lid has extra 1mm. To one of the sides. Most Likely a Chinese Tea Caddy w/Traditional Chinese Region Floral Design.
