Imported by the Chicago shop of Bensabott around the turn of the century. And custom fit with Art Deco inspired hand carved jade scholar’s plaque to cover. Spread jade butterfly wings to the front. Standing elephant jade feet. The Chinese export silver box in gently curved corner. Rectangular form, with hand carved monarch butterfly. Set amidst royal chrysanthemum in exceptionally high relief. Above the stippled background. The Wang Hing silver & jade dresser box is 6 1/4 by 3 5/8 inches. And weighs just under 18 standard ounces less jade and interior wood sides. In very fine condition. Retains original gold wash under cover and wood liner. Right upper corner of jade frame pushed in as shown. We have seen small items, rings and magnifying glasses in silver with.
