We offer this fine and rare antique pair Chinese black lacquer boxes inlaid with mother of pearl figural designs and with silver mounts around the rims. These finely and lightly made rounded boxes stand on a narrow rounded foot, again mounted with a silver rim, and each has a rounded domed cover with a flat top. Both are finely inset with mother of pearl scenes of young children playing in a garden with fine floral designs and borders applied around the top and bottom edges of the boxes. The boxes come in a later fitted silk lined case which is probably responsible for the fine condition of these. Neither box is marked. Condition The boxes are offered in fine presentable condition with wear commensurate with age. One cover has a crack which extends through from the underside and although does not appear to have been repaired does not impact significantly on the piece. The other box has some feint surface cracking although this certainly does not detract. They are in fine condition considering their age and are rare examples to add to any serious collection!
