Vintage circa mid-20th century box from China. This is made of silver with a gold vermeil finish. It is shaped as a stylized heart. Both the top and bottom are covered with a dense filigree mesh. The top features a design of cherry blossoms and leaves, rendered in beautiful polychrome enamel. The underside features further enamel decoration on a repeating blossom motif. A beautiful and special piece. About 2 1/8 by 2 1/8 by 1. Heavy weight for its size–54g. Excellent condition with light patina from age (note that the bottom is much “brighter” where it would not have been exposed to air) and minor wear to the enamel (at about 3:00 and 5:00 on the flower on the right).
