This beautiful antique Chinese embossed silver needle case is decorated with an exotic bird and flower as well as other engraving and embossed decorations. The figural silver chatelaine clip is the form of an unusual creature part bee, part fox? There is a carved orange coral bead as well as a large turquoise bead suspended from the bottom of the needle holder. Chinese women were expert embroiderers during the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries and earlier. This case would have belonged to a woman of importance and skill.
