BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE CARVED CHINESE CINNABAR LACQUER BOX & COVER. This is a beautiful 19th Century Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Box and Cover, i believe it to be Qing Dynasty, 19th century, circular, the circular dome cover is carved with a scholar sitting upon a crane while it is in flight with wonderful carved clouds in the background, this is set against an intricately carved fret and brick like ground, the curved sides of the top and bottom of this wonderful bowl and cover have been carved with the most beautiful layered and raised flowers, all this sits upon a low pedestal foot, the interior and base have been finished with a black lacquer covering , the base has been signed china , 8 cm diameter, and 2 inches height, its is in lovely condition with just a little fading over the years to the top, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, these would have once belonged to a very wealthy family and sat proud of place on there table, if this could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories they could tell, it is so very tactile and once held has the most wonderful feel.
