The Gorham Manufacturing Company. Is one of the largest Amercian. Manufacturers of sterling and silver-plate. It was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in the year of 1831 by Jabez Gorham, a master craftsman in partnership with Henry L. The firm products were silver spoons of coin silver, combs, jewelry, thimbles, and later larger sterling and silver-plate. This charming American antique silver and enamel cigarette case features the 935 silver purity hallmark visible in the interior. This fine Gorham cigarette case is indeed one-of-a-kind and a great addition to any significant connoisseurs antique cigarette case collection. Fine & Rare 17th/18th Century Chinese Export (For European Market) Silver Chinoiserie Tea Caddy, c1700. A very rare Chinese silver tea caddy made of die-stamped silver most probably made for the Dutch or European market. It is stamped only with a single indecipherable character mark to the underside and dates to around 1700. It is of cuboid form, embossed and chased with figures in Chinese garden landscapes, above fluted acanthus banding. The domed lid is similarly fluted. Apart from one small split and a bruised base it is in remarkable condition given the age and delicacy. 2.37 troy oz. You will not be disappointed with this very rare object.
