Antique Chinese Cast Silver Pictorial Card Case with Crane, River & Cartouche
Fine Antiques & Jewellery. Antique Chinese Silver Card Case. A late 19th or early 20th century silver card case. It is cast and chased with a riverbank scene with crane and rural building to one side, with the other side having a deer in a landscape and a vacant shield cartouche. There are no makers marks but this is quite common for period Chinese examples. It tests as quite a high grade of silver but a little below the Sterling standard. The case itself is quite slim and made for smaller cards, and the lid is hinged. Due to it being cast it is quite heavy for it’s size and it feels good in the hand. Good order, wear is very minor. There is a small indent to the base flat running across and there is slight movement in the hinge which is typical for it’s age. Height: 8.2 cm (3 1/8 inch). Width: 4.8 cm (1 7/8 inch). Weight: 68 grams (before packing). Stock Code: 2119 MY20-1. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right.
