Beautiful antique sterling silver Chinese opium box. Very interesting design showing nine horses total, four on each side and one on the lid. Eight of the horses look healthy but one shows it’s ribs like it is sick or starving. Not sure if the motif is based on a Chinese tale, parable, myth etc. The box weighs right at 2 1/2 ounces.
