Large Antique Chinese Porcelain Shard Inlaid Silver Plated Copper Box. Upon Mao’s death in 1976, the destruction of monuments, art, metal works, china, and porcelain ended, and these artifacts can be found today in museums worldwide. This piece was made with a large piece of shattered porcelain shard – judging from size and concave shape, it was probably a vase or urn. The silver plated box would have been constructed sometime from 1977 through the 1980s, but the porcelain shard is much older (most shards used in these boxes were from the 1800s). Painted porcelain depicts two Chinese women in traditional dress. Beautiful soft but vibrant colors. 8″ (L) x 6″ (w) x 3 (h).
