Chinese Export Silver Tea Caddy – Antique Circa 1890. This fine antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) tea caddy has a cylindrical form. The surface of the body is embellished with embossed bamboo decoration accented with birds within the stalks. The decoration to the tea caddy incorporates a shield shaped vacant cartouche. The base and upper rim of the body are ornamented with an applied moulded border. The tea caddy retains the original push fit cover embellished with further embossed bamboo decoration to the domed portion. The cover is surmounted with a silver bamboo and leaf finial. This antique tea caddy is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. The embossed decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caddy are very clear. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of CES silverware. Height to top of finial.
