English Sterling Tea Caddy CHINESE TASTE 1722
ENGLISH STERLING SILVER TEA CADDY CHINESE TASTE MADE 1722. We are pleased to offer this important George I sterling silver tea caddy. Decorated in the Chinese manner. Chinoeserie tea caddies this earlier are rarely seen outside of museum collections. From the well listed John Farnell in 1722. Classic slender rectangular form with canted corner. Beautifully carved Chinese gentleman in garden. The man facing the observer. Almost always figures are in profile. The opposite side with shell and floral medallion. Sides with shell and floral, and center diamond pattern medallion. Well fit shell and floral engraved cover. Sliding door beneath for filling. The tea caddy is 4 1/4 inches and weighs 8 1/2 (standard) ounces. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The Chinese man in garden and diamond medallion decoration retains most all its detail. Stands perfectly even on table. The sliding filler door works well. The item “English Sterling Tea Caddy CHINESE TASTE 1722″ is in sale since Monday, August 01, 2016.
