I have for sale a stunning Chinese Jade plaque mounted on to a ornately embossed silver box. The jade plaque is exquisitely carved with a floral and bat design. It is carved is such a way it has a layered appearance, the workmanship in my opinion is of the highest quality. The silver box itself has beautiful embossed decoration and again very high quality. I have not seen a jade plaque mounted on to a silver box which makes this more interesting. The style of the box helps date this piece to the 19th century, however the jade plaque could be earlier. The box is in very good condition, the only very minor fault is that one of the silver mounts holding the jade has broken off (see last picture). The jade is in excellent condition with no chips or any other damage. There is some old silver polish in the recessed area’s of the silver decoration. The jade plaque measures approximately 5cms by 4cms, the box 6.5cms long, 5.5cms wide and 3cms high. There is a 46 stamp to the base of the silver box, this is unidentified by myself however it has been tested for silver. The lid is a pull off lid rather then hinged. Sorry last picture is of base.
