This is a very fine quality Beautiful Antique 19th century Chinese Carved Gaming Counter Box & Five Original Mother of Pearl engraved Gaming Counters. This stunning very detailed Box was crafted. Making this wonderful box nearly 150 years old. The detailing to this gaming box is superb, its been beautifully carved to the top depicting a village scene with peasants walking and talking amounst the wonderfully detailed homes with flowers and foliage in a bundance, to the sides it has been beautifully carved with homes and tress, with a mountain landscape , the top pulls off to reveal five original Mother of Pearl Gaming Counters, they have the most stunning opening pierced work border with engraved scenes to each sides, they are absolutely breath taking, they shimmer when tilted in the light, on turning the box over you will see even the base has the most wonderful carved decoration of flowers and foliage, this would have once belonged to a young Gentleman and been used often in a time when things were so very different, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this gaming counter box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice, inside this does have faint chinese marks. Nearly 4.5 cm diameter…. Beautiful condition with just the normal amount of surface wear in the form of a couple of very old small hairline cracks as you would expect, that being said it doesnt detract at all from its rare beauty. Georgian Chinese Pearl Gaming Counters Antique Silver Box Nathaniel Mills 1831

This is for a beautiful and totally pristine little Georgian sterling silver gaming counter box made by Nathaniel Mills in 1831 with its original 12 mother of pearl counters inside. The box and counters are rectangular in shape and the counter fit perfectly inside. The 12 pearl counters all show the same simple engraved design which is slightly different on the backs. Both sides having this unusual concave circular pattern as a border. The box carries a full set of clear English sterling silver hallmarks dating it to Birmingham 1831 along with the renowned silversmiths initials N. The box and the counters are in absolute excellent A1 condition. With no damage anywhere, there are no dings or dents, no holes, splits or cracks and there are no repairs or restorations, the whole thing is just as you would want to find it. Georgian Chinese Pearl Gaming Counters Antique Sterling Silver Box Dated 1798

This is for a very nice little Georgian antique sterling silver gaming counter box with 6 early mother of pearl counters inside. The box and counters are oval in shape and the lid of the box has a simple shield with brightcut pattern around. The six pearl counters all show a flower engraved in the centre and a hatched border, this is the same on both sides and the border helps to confirm these as from the same era as the box, this style of simple bordered flower counters started production around 1740. The box carries a full set of clear English sterling silver hallmarks dating it to Birmingham 1798 along with the makers initials IT for John Turner. The box and the counters are in excellent condition with no dents to the silver and no cracks in the pearl. The box measures 35mm (1.25″) by 23mm (1″) by 10mm deep.
