This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver box has a subtly undulating rectangular form. The surface of the box has a planished finish and is embellished with an embossed and chased decorated stemmed floral and foliate design to the anterior surface. The decoration to the body continues to the cover, incorporating plum blossom arrangements and an impressive perched bird motif. This antique jewellery box is fitted with the original hinged cover. This exceptional Chinese silver jewellery box is supported by four impressive cast silver feet. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include. Maker’s mark: HC (Hung Chong). This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) card case has a plain rectangular rounded form. The anterior surface of this rare Chinese silver card case is ornamented with chased oriental figures amidst bamboo and foliate designs, accented with a fenced area and simplified structures, all on a matte background. The ornamentation incorporates a vacant shield shaped cartouche. The posterior surface of this silver card case is embellished with an exceptional chased decorated segmented iconic Chinese dragon design amidst clouds, also all on a matte background. The rounded sides of this antique silver cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This Chinese card case is fitted with a push fit cover ornamented with a continuation of the aforementioned chased decoration. The hallmarks struck to the rim of this impressive antique case include. A fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver cigarette / card case; part of our diverse Asian silverware collection. This fine antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) cigarette/card case has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The anterior cover is embellished with an embossed and chased decorated iconic Chinese dragon design amidst clouds, on a matte background, incorporating a shield shaped vacant cartouche. The posterior cover is ornamented with traditional embossed and chased plum blossom foliate and floral decoration, also on a matte background. The rounded sides of this antique silver cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This silver cigarette / card case is fitted with a push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments. This Chinese silver cigarette case retains the original gilded interior. The hallmarks struck to the catch of this impressive case include. Maker’s mark: Zee Wo. This antique case is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp. The subtly domed hinged cover of the box is ornamented with contemporary engraved monograph initials in addition to a moulded border to the rim. NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior to provide strength, due to a poor gauge of silver; a sign of quality when examples are unlined and of solid silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver and enamel box / canister; an addition to our oriental silver boxes collection. This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) canister / box has a hexafoil shaped form. The surface of this double skinned antique Chinese box is embellished with overlaid filigree mesh panels with plain solid silver borders to each incurve, in addition to the upper and lower rims. Each panel is ornamented with an applied oriental plum blossom branch accented with floral and bird designs, all accented with enamel details. The ornamentation to the body incorporates an array of alternating collet set agate and coral gemstones. This Chinese silver box retains the original push fit gem set, bulbous cover embellished with further filigree and enamel work identical to that of the body. The Chinese silver and enamel box cover is surmounted with an exceptional filigree ball style finial accented with a coral gemstone to the upper portion and featuring a flared lobed, filigree terminal. The cover opens to reveal the cylindrical chamber of the canister/box. The underside of the box is plain and unembellished apart from the hallmark “SILVER”; the piece does not feature an assay or makers mark, therefore the date / origin can be determined by the composition and decoration. Chinese Enameled Metal Box Republic Period Circa 1930

An intricate, hands on, colorful hinged box to add to a collection or use to decorate the home. The heavy brass box has a silver (colored) patina and has been enameled in turquoise, cobalt and aubergine enamels in a scrolling peony design. You can see the golden color of the brass coming through the silver. The box has a simple pin hinge. The box rests flat on a surface with its bun feet. It has the mark MADE IN CHINA on the center of the base. 4 3/8″ wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep x 1 7/8 (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 12.0 oz (340 g). There is wear to both the silver-colored patina, as well as to some of the turquoise enamels. The hinge is bent, which prevents the lid from closing snugly. There is wear and staining inside the box.
