1890 FINE Chinese STERLING SILVER BOX Tea Caddy Canister MOTHER of PEARL LID CANTON 239 gr. Gorgeous Chinese Export estate find. 8 different elaborate panels interpretation would be very welcomed. High relief repousse highly ornate motifs. Believe to be of Canton origin. Centered in the silver flip lid cover is master crafted artistry of beautiful Mother of Pearl etched with butterflies fluttering in amongst flowers in a garden / framing the MOP is scroll silver work. The caddy itself consists of eight different curved ornately chased panels. Fish or perhaps, a turtle with lotus flower. Flowers / chrysanthemums. Top & bottom edges are elaborately finished in curls & scrolls. Lovely condition free of crack or dents – beautiful patina. Hinged lid fits snuggly.
