A stunning high quality Chinese export or China Straits solid silver tobacco box. It is hallmarked a mark to the lid and tests as high grade silver. I would date it to c1890. It has been superbly decorated being embossed to the lid with a dragon with a leaf design to the base. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures over 3.25 inches (8.5cms) across by 2.75 inches (7cms) tall and weighs 84 grams. A beautiful very high quality piece.
