A rare Chinese export silver tinder box. It is unmarked but tests as high grade silver. It has a dragon like design around its centre so is most likely Chinese, made c1840. It has been beautifully designed incorporating a steel striker and fine quality engraving. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The hinge is strong, the lid closes tightly, and the inside is gilded. It measures 1.5 inches (3.9cms) by a fraction over 1.5 inches (4.2cms) wide and weighs 25 grams.
